How Did You Come Up With The Idea Of Creating Your Own Store?

Due to the great vision of our visionary founder, we started making great bags, pouches and sleeves for Digital gear like laptops & cameras in the year 2010. Our products offer a perfect blend of functional & aesthetic values, and it was no surprise that they were selling extremely well through India’s top organized retailers. One of our retailers was so impressed by our products that they decided to launch their own private brand of bags – and the job of manufacturing the same was offered to us. Long story short, very soon we had completely forgotten about the amazing bags we made for our own brand, and became a commodity manufacturer for our retailer friend. After continuously burning the midnight oil for 2 years, our great leader realized that this is not we want to be, and this is not what we want to be remembered as – a commodity manufacturer. And our great leader decided to start doing what we love doing, which is crafting great bags for today’s tech traveler. Hence the idea of the store. Hail our leader!

What Is So Unique About Your Online Store?

If you are in the market, or ever have been in the market for bags, sleeves or pouches for your daily Digital gear, you would have the following options:

What Were The Major Challenges Did You Face While Starting Up?
For a small business with limited resources, both financial & human, it’s always difficult to compete with the big boys. Currently we probably have 50 ideas for products or services, which we are sure would deliver great value to our customers & at the same time would be good for our bottom lines. However, due to scarcity of resources, we can’t afford to bring these ideas to life, as fast as we would like. On the brighter side, at least in the online space, it’s much easier to test the waters for a great idea of product/service.

Any Learning You Want To Share With Fellow Entrepreneurs?

Our great leader does not usually share his learning. However, for all you wonderful folks out there, he is willing to make an exception. Being an entrepreneur is not easy. Period. However, once the bug bites you, there is no going back. Failures are guaranteed, and that’s the time you have to keep your chin up. Keep at it, and the success would be sweeter thanks to the failures you would encounter on your way to success. To succeed, – specifically online, I believe there are 3 simple mantras: Niche, Niche & Niche. If you differentiate your product offerings to what is available with every Tom, Dick & Harry – you immediately multiply your chances of succeeding.

How Was Your Experience With KartRocket?

There is definitely a learning curve to a platform like Kartrocket. However, once you travel the curve & try out the platform in detail, things become extremely easy. Also, contrary to popular belief, we have found that there is a lot of customization possible on the Kartrocket platform. How did you come up with the idea of creating your own store?

After completing my studies, I was looking forward to the whole corporate experience. But fortunately or unfortunately I couldn’t find anything that would excite me. Inspired by my peers at SP Jain, I thought of launching my own fashion brand. And hence, began the planning of Arabella & Jaune.

Arabella & Jaune is a store that targets the niche product category of statement necklaces. Especially, handpicked from suppliers all over the world, we aim to bring the latest and the most enchanting products for our customers

What were the major challenges did you face while starting up?

Getting hold of the suppliers from different parts of the world was pretty exhausting, especially because we had to handpick each and every piece. We couldn’t just bulk order anything as that would mean outdated fashion entering our collection. To provide the best statement necklaces, we made sure that no piece is below average in quality or style.

Any learning you want to share with fellow entrepreneurs?

We feel that prior knowledge about the industry you are entering is extremely important. You need to do your homework about everything – competitors, market, suppliers, logistics, etc. Also try to figure out which unfulfilled need of the consumers is your brand aiming to fulfill and target.

How was your experience with Kartrocket?

Tabraiz wants to invest in futuristic business and understands that e-commerce is not limited to big budgets, but soon going to become a common practice among retailers. In a couple of years, most of the retailers are going to have the online store and probably serve to local market. Abhijeet Sojwal, who has worked for the top 2 ecom sites, joined hands and initiated Stylokart. We are not dreaming of becoming Flipkart or Jabong, and also not looking at million dollars VC. We are just a small fashion store and will give rare to find, good quality products to young women.

What is so unique about your online store?

We buy private label clothing from importers in small quantities, which is not easy to find in Indian Markets. The big brand label these dresses are double or triple in price.

What were the major challenges did you face while starting up?

Not really, because we are moving slow and just want to be there, without blowing huge money on trial and error.

Any learning you want to share with fellow entrepreneurs?

Are you desperate to see First Day First Show, and face all the crowd and struggle? Or, you want to wait till tomorrow with greater luxury and space? Starting an e-com biz and becoming a hero overnight is expensive with no guarantee of success. Moving slowly always works.

The idea to create a global platform for products created by Indian artisans and craftsmen had already popped in and that was the time when e-commerce was booming. I realized that this is the right channel to start with since the investment, efforts and the gestation period is much lower with potential to reach unlimited customers. That is when we decided to create our own store and start selling to the world.

What is so unique about your online store?

Unravel India is all about products that created using Indian art and craft forms from different parts of India. These are unique handcrafted products that depict the culture of the place of its origin and serves many categories such as Decor, Furnishings, Crockery, Accessories, Personal care etc.

What were the major challenges did you face while starting up?

Fulfillment was one of the major challenge when we started up. The products were bulky and difficult to package and deliver safely. Also, the logistics was also not evolved to serve remote areas of India. Over a period of time, there was a learning curve for the whole team as well as the whole e-commerce ecosystem evolved much thanks to the big players and now things on this front has kind of stabilized

Any learning you want to share with fellow entrepreneurs?

I think everyday is a new learning and we are still in the learning phase but what I could tell from my experience is that you just have to stick at it and you would see the results.
